Create your own

biochar bio-fertiliser

Biochar Drum-01.png

1. Once the Biokiln has cooled after the burn, take out the small drum.

2. Crush the large pieces of biochar to a fine grain.

Top tip: Wear & face covering & crush the biochar in a bucket with a shovel. To reduce any dust particles at water.

3. Add 50/50 ratio of biochar & compost biochar. Add 1 litre of water. Mix well with a stick.

Top tip: Compost can be any organic material mixture. Animal manure, food scraps & plant biomass etc.

4. Allow the biofertiliser to 'charge" for 7-14 days.

Top tip: The resting period will allow the biochar mixture to charge with the nutrients from the compost & water.

5. Store biofertiliser in a cool dry place. Do not seal mixture, allow air to enter.

Top tip: Exposing the biofertiliser with air will allow the mixture to come alive with micro-organisms. These microorganisms are hugely beneficial for soil & crop health.
